In the movie
"Cast Away", Tom Hanks plays a Federal Express
employee who refused to open a box entrusted to his care, even though
he was marooned on a dessert island for four long years. In spite
of typhoons and blistering heat, constant hunger and thirst, long
hours, fatigue, isolation and mind-numbing boredom --- Tom still
kept that box intact.
He finally escaped
from the island and returned to civilization, and the movie closes
with Tom delivering that one package - in the hinterland of Texas.
Why? Because he is, after all, a FedEx guy ---- and that's what
they do, come hell or high water.
What would
you give,
to have a FedEx guy working for you?
Susie
Crews has spent her life as a FedEx kinda guy
- even though she's never worked for Federal Express --- and she's
definitely not a guy. But, she does have the tenacity of a bulldog.
And she commits to the details of an enterprise, and builds a winning
corporate culture from the ground up. Tom would be proud.
Susie got her
start in life with Ma Bell. Then she moved into insurance and real
estate. She was a turn-around property manager for E.F. Hutton,
back when people listened every time old E.F. spoke. She was personal
asistant to the group Vice President of American Express, and served
as Human Resource Adminstrator and regional Training Coordinator
for Turner Construction Company, the 6th largest general contractor
in the world. She has been the President of Wordcrafter's Literary
Agency since 1995, where she shepherds the works of innovative business
authors. And in each and every endeavor, her success has resided
in the details.
"I admire the 'Big
Picture' guys", says Susie,"I really do. But without someone
to deliver the goods, any big picture gets fuzzy real quick."
"Young
lady, you are clearly above average. I spent the entire time with
a silly grin on my face ... and you never even told a joke. What
is this effect you have on an audience?"

E. Anderson - Internal Auditor
